The Justice Project
through out the justice project we strived to find out what justice really meant to each of us individually. we covered topics like environmental justice where we listen to a podcast about the wild fires in California and talked about the bears ears national monument issue. we aslo learned about compassion and economic as justice when reading the Dali lama and Rawls justice as fairness. we also dug deep into systemic racism in the Untied States when watching the movie true justice. after diving into each one of these topics we were each able to come out of it and create a project of what there finding of justice really were.

As I watch thousands take to the streets chanting black lives matter holding their posters reading “i cant breath” i think to myself, is this what it takes to be just? Why are we in this position in the first place? There are 328 million people in the United states, 19% upper class, 52% middle class and 29% lower class. Being born into a minority shouldn't change the opportunities given to you. Worked for or not those of us not classified as a minority will for the most part be given more chances to succeed then those classified as a minority. Why is this? Why from the second we are born are we put into a group, some struggling to find food, shelter and water, yet some having everything they could ever want or need. worse of all, some are put behind bars or killed in the street just for the shade of their skin. In the movie “True Justice” it quotes “the death penalty is a result of race and poverty”. There is a timeline of the death penalty from back when we would lynch people in the middle of the street to now where it is the same punishment just done by the court. We have been living in a society where minorities and lower class are treated as lesser for too long. And I have had enough. We should no longer be living how we did in the past. People of all race and class differences should be given the same opportunities for greatness. In John Rawls philosophy “justice as fairness” he talks about seeking to remedy social and economic disadvantages by giving everyone a fair chance at success and thus be truly free. I think to even out the playing field from the start we need to be giving the lower class materialistic objects such as homes food and education as well as take out all biases towards them. We also need to have those who have so much be willing to give to the lesser so that they can have the opportunity to succeed as well. I think that by doing this we wouldn't just be helping our economic economy, I also think that our court systems would become less biased and this long line of living in the past in regards to race and those with less will end.

Final Justice Project
Artist statement:
My idea for this piece was to create a design on the “my body, my choice” issue using photoshop. I decided to use vines for the outline of the uterus because I wanted it to reflect the beauty and fragility yet strength a woman's body has. I believe that it is a woman's choice to decide everything from abortions to birth control. Not another woman or man. This design will be created into stickers so people can show what they believe in.

- For my project I ended up making a design through photoshop which I can print into stickers and sell. My project is on womens choice witch for me entails choice on abortion and choice on all forms of birth control.
- A. My project reflected my personal philosophy of justice because I am a very strong believer that people have their own rights to their own bodys. And no one else can be in control of them. And when i say this i dont mean actions people make but i mean ineer body choices like abortions birthcontrol, intercourse, ect. For me it doesn't make any sense that they would take away womens rights to abortion. For many abortion is the only option that will work for them, either there not finacially stable enough to bring another human life into this very demanding world or this baby will be a reminder for one of a prior abuse. Another reason why i dont think taking these rights away is just is because here in america we do not have an equality principle witch states that regardless of his or her social background, ethnicity or sex, we should all an effective equal chances as others or similiar natural ability.
- I wouldn't say that I did significant research for just this project alone but throughout the last 4 years of politics I have been able to learn alot about both sides of my body. At first i didn't understand the side that is against women's choice or “pro lifers” but after talking to people I started to understand a lot of these people are christians and this act is against their religion. Other anti reasons is that you are killing a human life when you get an abortion. I explained the reasons for women's choice up above.
Reflection:
- I was successful in meeting the goals I set for myself in my project proposal because I ended up making a very cool design that should print out nicely onto stickers. Ainsley's help definitely contributed to my success because she inspired me to use photoshop when i saw her design.
- I have been unsuccessful so far in actually making and selling the stickers to make money. I think time was a good contributing factor to this because the process of actually getting the money for the stickers and then having people buy them is long. Another factor was covid because it would have been a lot easier if we were able to have an exhibition to sell our clothing and stickers at. Now with covid we have to do it all online which is a lot harder and makes the chances of us selling the product a lot less likely.
- I feel I put a lot of good work and effort into this project. I am pretty proud of my final design and the process of making it wasn't necessarily too difficult but it was very time consuming and took some remembering on how to use photoshop.
- I think a large thing that I learned through this project for my senior project is that I need to use my time very wisley. As I learned about wanting to make and sell stickers and then give that money to other companies I learned that it all takes a lot of time. And if i use it all very wisely i will be able to accomplish everything i want to with my senior project (covid restrictions beside of course). Another lesson I learned was that it is okay to switch up small details of the plan as you go. I originally thought I was going to be making t-shirts but as I got deeper into the project I learned that it would make more sense and look better for my design to be a sticker.
